Theme

Video-based gait analysis

Human gait conveys various information, such as gender, age, or personality. In particular, personality in gait has attracted attention as the only biometric trait that can be recognized even at a distance from a camera, so the gait recognition is expected to be applied to forensic science, criminal investigation, wide area surveillance in view to the realization of a safe and secure community. On the other hand, observed human gait is affected by various factors, such as the observationvview, walking speed, changes of clothing, physical condition, etc. Together with developing a gait-based authentication method robust to these influences, I conduct researches regarding the fundamental technologies such as computer vision and pattern recognition necessary for the video-based gait analysis.
