Empirical Software Engineering

As software systems become widely used in social infrastructures, they perform important roles in a wide range of aspects of our life. A large amount and various kinds of data collected through software development processes are required to discuss scientifically on the quality, productivity and cost of software products. The study related to this issue is popularly practiced as Empirical Software Engineering (ESE). In ESE, we conduct the following research topics: software maintenance (ex. code clone analysis), software estimation (ex. function points), project managements, etc.
