Theme

Integration of Physical Space and Cyberspace

The final goal of my study is to integrate physical space into cyberspace: physical space is where we live and cyberspace is where computer networks provide. To this end, I am working on three research topics: 1. applied sensor networks, 2. integration of sensor networks into wireless LANs, and 3. high-performance sensor networks.

For example, in 2. integration of sensor networks into wireless LANs, we are trying to realize a new kind of wireless LAN access point which provides network connectivity, power supply, and spatial information simultaneously. The biggest challenge of current wireless sensor networks is power consumption because wireless sensor nodes are driven by battery. To overcome the challenge about power consumption, we make data transmission to coexist with wireless power transfer. Additionally, radios can be used for sensing because the radio propagation is very sensitive to a slight change of physical world.
