The Internet has transcended its original role as a mere network connecting computers, playing a role as a vital societal infrastructure integral to daily life. With the Internet hosting an ever-expanding suite of applications, the Internet must satisfy requirements beyond high-speed communication, encompassing various application-specific performance needs, such as low latency. In response, the Internet has undergone evolution, which remains unabated. However, achieving a safe and secure societal activities necessitates that the Internet provides advanced security and privacy protections while simultaneously satisfying the aforementioned performance-oriented requirements.
Our research team is deeply engaged in pioneering the next generation of the internet, intending to harmonize the often conflicting requirements of security, privacy, and performance. By leveraging state-of-the-art networking and computing technologies, such as the programmable data plane technologies and the domain-specific computing technologies, we are steering the evolution of the Internet towards an era of enhanced security, efficiency, and functionality.
