Theme
Metabolic Information Engineering
By revealing the operating principle of metabolic systems of organisms, I am aiming to create microorganism able to create useful substances -- such as bio-fuel -- in mass production, to grasp the diversity of a variety of secondary metabolites made by plants, or to elucidate the mechanisms of human illnesses. In order obtain a clue to understanding the dynamic and intricate behaviors of metabolic systems, I strive to make accurate measurement of metabolite concentrations in cells, and of quantities of chemical compounds and enzymatic proteins flowing through the metabolic pathways, by using analyzers. By scanning the metabolic situation inside organisms using analyzers and converting it into numerical data, the biological dynamics can be grasped as information dynamics. Using these, I have studied the characteristics of metabolic systems and the mechanisms behind them.
