Control Systems Theory
Control engineering is an academic discipline for the analysis and design of system behavior based on mathematical models. It applies to many mechanical and electrical systems, such as airplanes, drones, hard disks, trains, elevators, etc. Real-time communication technology and IoT device penetration require us to establish a fundamental theory for distributed control rather than centralized control. In addition, the spread of high-speed communication environments with the large-scale and high speed of information exchange enables us to treat social systems as a control object. However, social systems are composed of human beings, and they do not act like machines but change their behavior autonomously according to the surrounding environment. Thus, it is not easy to analyze and design their behavior using conventional control theory as it is. I try to solve the above issues via multi-agent and game-theoretic approaches. In particular, I work on decentralized state estimation methods, objective function design, and so on. I am also interested in the randomization techniques for control and optimization. We have already proposed several techniques for difficult optimization and control problems.
