Majors

Information Networking

Our department is one of the best in Japan, studying information networks from the perspective of fundamental to applied technologies. We work for IoT, B5G/6G, XR (VR/AR/MR), and a smart city with collaborating industries.

Faculty Members

Laboratories

Advanced Network Architecture Laboratory

[M. Murata Lab.]

We are conducting researches on new network/platform technologies for future information societies based on interdisciplinary science that integrates with other fields such as brain science, evolutionary biology, and sociology.

Intelligent Networking Systems Laboratory

[Watanabe Lab.]

For future networking systems, we are studying technologies enabling the next Internet, the following cell phones, and the next wireless LANs. Our research topics include fundamental technologies to applications interconnecting multiple research areas, such as B5G/6G, IoT/M2M, and VR/AR/MR.

Information Sharing Platform Laboratory

[Hasegawa Lab.]

We engage in the exploration and development of innovative and practical networking technologies, seeking to revolutionize the paradigms of the Internet and 5G/6G networks.

Mobile Computing Laboratory

[Yamaguchi Lab.]

We explore technologies that address emerging societal challenges, such as energy-efficient communication, edge computing, digital twins, data assimilation, and regional IoT, by leveraging real-world sensing through IoT devices and analysis using AI.

Cooperative Laboratories

Ubiquitous Network Laboratory

[Shimonishi Lab.]

[with CyberMedia Center]

The next-generation wireless communication technologies such as 5G and 6G and digital twin technologies are enabling a world where the virtual and real worlds are highly integrated.
We research computational infrastructure, communication infrastructure, and applications to achieve such a world.

Affiliated Laboratories

Cyber Communication Laboratory

[NTT]

In IOWN/6G, we research a large-scale information infrastructure with low power consumption using optical interconnect, an ultra-low-latency, high-speed, large-capacity communication network that utilizes innovative optical and wireless technologies.

Joint Research Laboratories

Smart Contract Application

[M. Murata Lab.]

Our research is at the forefront of leveraging blockchain technology and smart contracts, with a particular emphasis on the health and medical sectors. Our objective is to create a trusted data platform, integrating this data with AI to significantly enhance the reliability and transparency of societal infrastructure. Furthermore, we are exploring innovative governance structures through the use of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). This cutting-edge approach aims to revolutionize data management and governance, guaranteeing data integrity, and instilling trust in digital transactions and administrative processes, marking a new era of security and efficiency.
