Information Systems Engineering

By integrating various information technologies, spanning hardware, software, and machine learning, the Department of Information Systems Engineering pursues research to implement reliable information systems that play a crucial role in the infrastructure of the information society.

Faculty Members

Laboratories

Machine Learning and Systems

[Kawahara Lab.]

We carry out fundamental research on new principles, algorithms, and models of machine learning, as well as applied research that contributes to solving problems in social, industrial and scientific fields by constructing methodologies to implement machine learning as an information system and applying those to various fields.

Information Systems Synthesis

[Onoe Lab.]

In a society where cyber- and physical-spaces converge, our group focuses on synthesizing information systems and developing system-level design methodologies for software, middleware, and hardware. Additionally, we engage in prototyping and conduct on-site experiments aimed at realizing societal implementations.

Intelligent Integrated Systems

[Miura Lab.]

We research technologies that integrate the boundary between the physical world and the information world, such as intelligent autonomous sensors, security that confronts physical attacks, and triturated computers that permeate the environment. We tackle with solving social problems by proactively pioneering application areas of ever-evolving information technology.

Dependability Engineering

[Tsuchiya Lab.]

This group specializes in techniques for developing dependable systems, emphasizing software testing, fault tolerance, dependability evaluation, and model checking, an automated verification method.

Cooperative Laboratories

Integrated Media Environment

[Uranishi Lab.]

[Cybermedia Center]

The theme of "the creation of new environments by media integration and utilization" aims to address various issues in areas such as VR/AR/MR, HCI, and robotics to apply them in multiple fields.

Cooperative Laboratories

Intelligence Data Science

[Sakurai Lab.]

[SANKEN]

We develop pioneering technologies aimed at optimizing social activities by analyzing the real-time evolution of natural and social phenomena using big data. Our goal is to produce research results that lead the world in technological innovation, continuously questioning ourselves, "What constitutes truly practical technology?" and endeavoring to integrate technology into society.
